Yes, that was kindov tense, and I am such a muppet sometimes that there were a few moments of ridiculousness.

The criterium corners are definitely an 'asking for trouble' situation, that's for sure. I was surprised how much relief it provides - I never get to the point of real discomfort any more.

It was an awesome day no matter how you look at it, thanks. So were you working toward your pilot's license with Tom, or was about the flight? I spent a lot of time in Harvard fighter trainers over a few years, though always as a passenger, never a pilot.

...and I guess 'cheap' is relative. :)babble onhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08895102832912891306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-85530486549729740.post-11054272436603954892014-05-27T10:05:26.462-07:002014-05-27T10:05:26.462-07:00Yes. I haven't been in a group start race in 15 years..i'm comfortable in pacelines & group rides, but leaning into a corner with the pack on a crit just isn't for me...now just tri's...anyway, I like your bike videos & occasionaly check your youtube channel....i flipped through your security guard vid & there are moments of comedy gold...mainly because you're tense, the guard is tense,& the only calm people are the cops, who have seen this movie before & want to write a calm ending..your best line: "I'm not skinny, I'm muscular!!"...That's like Jack Lemon challenging Tony Curtis to a fight in 'Some Like It Hot' ..."Come on, put'm up...I may be thin, but I'm wiry"dancesonpedalsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-85530486549729740.post-18799292873959990642014-05-22T10:48:27.762-07:002014-05-22T10:48:27.762-07:00Nice "leg in" to the world of general av...Nice "leg in" to the world of general aviation. I got a couple of choppa rides before - NYC Statue of Liberty to George Washington Bridge and back from the West 30th St Heliport. Quick ride up and down the beach in Cape May New Jersey. All this was YYeeears ago.
Constance / Velouria of Lovely Bicycle got a ride in a glider in Northern Ire.
Aviation was my first passion. Anything to scrape together $$ to go flying or get a lesson from Tom Murphy in Bayport NY in a 65 horsepower 1947 Piper Cub. That was livin ! Big Harley out to the grassy airport and hang with guys with some of the coolest planes in the area.

Now, Tom is long gone and I do cheap stuff like ... boating (!) and vintage bikes.
Congratulations on the experience! I ride alone a lot because I am kind of nervous in a tight group.

Great info on the had behind the back thing. I will definitely give it a go. My hand numbness is aggravated I am sure from the messenger bag.

Weight going in the right direction! Many thanks for your suggestions here.

Have a good one!

vsk / NYC Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-85530486549729740.post-10334553007019314842014-05-20T10:47:40.814-07:002014-05-20T10:47:40.814-07:00Is that the grease imprint of a chain on your thig...Is that the grease imprint of a chain on your thigh?tjpnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-85530486549729740.post-88149014641991119492014-05-20T09:55:40.630-07:002014-05-20T09:55:40.630-07:00No it is not. Podium kisses - XX
I'm not ashamed to say that I am an expert kisser now. :D

The race started with the oldest age category and riders left in two minute intervals. As a 45-49 yr woman I left with the 60-64 yr men. So the young guys have to pass you. It was cool. I got dropped early on after failing to clip in easily, I tried to hang on to one of the strong young bucks who came barreling through, too, but I didn't have quite enough mustard in the muscles to catch a wheel. babble onhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08895102832912891306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-85530486549729740.post-21289277427503548372014-05-16T12:35:40.815-07:002014-05-16T12:35:40.815-07:00Ms. Babble on, there seems to be fewer pictures of...Ms. Babble on, there seems to be fewer pictures of you on and off your Amsterdam. You, of course, look great no matter what you are riding, but a woman on a Dutch bike has a casual beauty about her that is oh so continental.
